Configure External Domains

Author:Esadax
Updated:May 28, 2025

External domains are domains you own through other registrars or DNS providers outside of Esadax. You can assign these domains to your websites, apps, REST APIs, and more.

Assign External Domains

You can link any external domain to your projects, including:

  • Websites and Apps: Serve your frontend or backend applications on your own domain.
  • REST APIs: Expose your APIs under a custom domain for easier access and branding.

Use with CI/CD and Deployments

For continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), external domains can be assigned specifically to your Production Deployments. You can also configure:

  • Different Git branches to deploy on different domains.
  • Redirect domains to other URLs or domains as needed.

DNS Configuration

To link your external domain:

  1. Add the domain in your project’s domain settings on Esadax.
  2. Update your domain’s DNS records with your registrar or DNS provider according to Esadax’s instructions.
  3. Wait for DNS propagation — depending on your provider, this can take some time (usually a few minutes up to 48 hours).
  4. Verify domain ownership and connection within the Esadax dashboard.

Important Notes

  • Make sure to configure A records, CNAMEs, or other DNS records as specified.
  • DNS propagation delays are normal; your domain might not work immediately.
  • Check with your DNS provider if you experience issues.
