Project Settings and Configuration

Every project on Esadax is an abstracted instance representing your application or workload, whether it’s a Git-connected CI/CD deployment, a full-stack app orchestrated through One Click Apps, or a short-lived Pay-as-You-Go project.

Project settings control how your application is built, deployed, and served, adapting to the specific needs of each project type. Understanding these settings empowers you to optimize performance, streamline workflows, and maintain consistency across environments.

Overview

The Project Settings panel in your Esadax dashboard adapts to the type of project you’re managing, allowing you to configure your app for build and runtime with ease.

Git-Connected CI/CD Projects (Netlify-style)

  • Typically source code lives in a Git repository.
  • You specify the root directory for your app source, especially useful for monorepos or nested folders.
  • Define your framework preset (Next.js, Astro, SvelteKit, etc.) for optimized builds.
  • Configure build commands and output folders.
  • Manage environment variables for different deployment stages.
  • Select Node.js versions for builds and serverless function runtimes.
  • Customize HTTP headers for caching, security, and performance.

One Click Apps & Pay-as-You-Go Projects (Full-Stack & Short-Term)

  • Project is based on containerized or orchestrated workloads.
  • No traditional Git root directory is required.
  • Focus on setting up project name and defining necessary environment variables (e.g., credentials, service URLs).
  • Deploy quickly without complex build steps.
  • Runtime configuration is key — all environment variables are passed directly to containers or orchestrated services.
  • Pay-as-You-Go projects allow start/stop control with billing based on active runtime.

Root Directory

For Git-connected projects, especially those using monorepos, specifying the root directory is essential to correctly locate your application’s source code.

One Click Apps and Pay-as-You-Go projects do not require a root directory setting since the application is deployed via container images or orchestrated services.

Learn more in Root Directory Settings.

Framework Presets

Framework presets optimize build and deployment steps based on your frontend technology. This is primarily for Git-connected CI/CD projects.

One Click Apps and Pay-as-You-Go projects typically do not require framework presets, as they rely on pre-built container images.

See Framework Presets for details.

Build Settings

Customize build commands, output folders, and installation steps for source-based projects using CI/CD pipelines.

For container-based projects, the build process happens outside Esadax, so build settings are generally not applicable.

More info in Build Settings.

Environment Variables

Environment variables are vital for all project types:

  • For Git-connected projects, define variables scoped to build and runtime environments.
  • For One Click Apps and Pay-as-You-Go, environment variables configure containerized services and runtime behavior.

Manage them securely via dashboard or CLI. Learn how in Environment Variables.

Node.js Version

Configure the Node.js runtime version for builds and serverless functions in Git-connected projects.

Not applicable to container-orchestrated One Click Apps or Pay-as-You-Go projects unless your containers specify Node.js versions internally.

See Configure Node.js Version.

Configure Headers

Set custom HTTP headers for caching policies, security enhancements, and routing controls — mostly relevant for frontend projects deployed via Git.

One Click Apps may support headers based on container or service configuration but this varies by app.

Learn more at Configure Headers.

Conclusion

Project settings in Esadax are designed to flexibly support your deployment style — from full Git-integrated CI/CD workflows to instant container-based full-stack apps and cost-efficient pay-as-you-go deployments.

Tailor your project configuration based on the underlying architecture to maximize efficiency, control, and reliability.
