Summary of Changes to Domain Control Validation (DCV) and SSLs on Shared Hosting

  1. Change in File Upload Requirements:

    • Previously, you only needed to upload the file to two URLs: http://example.com/.well-known/pki-validation/file.txt and http://example.net/.well-known/pki-validation/file.txt.
    • Now, four URLs are required:
      • http://www.example.com/.well-known/pki-validation/file.txt
      • http://example.net/.well-known/pki-validation/file.txt
      • http://www.example.net/.well-known/pki-validation/file.txt
  2. Impact on SSL Installation:

    • Free SSLs are available for domains using Shared Hosting Nameservers without additional setup.
    • Custom nameservers require pointing both the main domain and its www subdomain to the hosting account for SSL installation.
  3. Free SSL Offering:

    • Automatically provided upon adding a domain or subdomain on shared hosting accounts.
  4. Custom Nameserver Setup:

    • Ensure both the main domain and www subdomain are pointed to your hosting account for SSL validation.
  5. Support Availability:

    • The support team is available 24/7/365 for any questions or issues related to SSL validation or other concerns.
