Dynamic DNS (DDNS) is a powerful tool for managing domains where your server's IP address may change frequently. With DDNS, subdomains can automatically point to your current IP address, ensuring seamless access to your services.
This guide will walk you through setting up Dynamic DNS on your Esadax account using the steps provided by Esadax.
Why Use Dynamic DNS?
- Scalability: Manage multiple domains and subdomains with automatic IP updates.
- Reliability: Ensure your website remains accessible even when your server's IP changes.
- Cost-Effective: No additional costs for DDNS setup or maintenance.
Step-by-Step Guide
-
Sign In to Your Esadax Account
- Visit the Esadax website and log in to your account.
- Ensure you have enabled two-factor authentication for added security.
-
Navigate to Domain Management
- After logging in, navigate to the "Domain List" section under the "Domain Management" tab.
-
Manage Your Domain
- Find the domain you wish to configure and click on its name.
- Look for the "DNS Settings" option. If it's not visible, use the search function to locate it.
-
Add A Records for Subdomains
- In the DNS settings, add new records:
- Type:
A
- Name: Enter the subdomain name (e.g.,
www, mail).
- TTL: Set to
86400 seconds (24 hours). This ensures your DNS settings are cached temporarily.
- Value: Use a dummy IP address like
127.0.0.1. Esadax will update this automatically.
-
Add Wildcard Record for All Subdomains
- To cover all subdomains, add another A record:
- Type:
A
- Name:
*.
- Value: Use the dummy IP address again.
-
Save Changes
- After entering all details, click "Save Changes" to apply your settings.
- Esadax will update the IP addresses automatically once saved.
-
Wait for Update
- Once changes are saved, wait for Esadax to update the DNS records.
Notes
- IPv6 Support: Currently, Esadax does not support IPv6 addresses for Dynamic DNS.
- Troubleshooting: If issues arise, review the "Associated Articles" section or contact Esadax Support for further assistance.
