To install an SSL certificate on your server using cPanel, follow these organized steps:

  1. Log into cPanel: Access your hosting account via cPanel.

  2. Navigate to SSL/TLS Manager:

    • Click on the "SSL/TLS" icon in your cPanel dashboard.
    • Select "Generate a CSR (Certificate Signing Request)" if you don't have one already.
  3. Generate a CSR:

    • Fill in the required details, including your domain name and whether it's a wildcard or single domain certificate.
    • Download the CSR file after generation.
  4. Obtain SSL Certificate Files:

    • Apply for the SSL certificate from a CA like Let's Encrypt.
    • Receive two files: Certificate (CRT) and Private Key (KEY).
  5. Upload SSL Files to cPanel:

    • In the SSL/TLS section, click "Upload Certificates."
    • Browse and upload your CRT file.
    • Select your domain from the dropdown list.
  6. Include Intermediate Certificates (Optional):

    • If your CRT includes intermediate CA certificates, upload them in the CABUNDLE field.
    • If not, download the CABUNDLE from the CA's website and upload it.
  7. Install SSL Certificate:

    • Click "Install Certificate."
    • Review the details and confirm installation.
  8. Enable SNI for Mail Services (Optional):

    • Check the "Enable SNI for Mail Services" box if you use Exim or Dovecot.
    • This allows your mail clients to use HTTPS securely.
  9. Verify Installation:

    • Test your site using https:// to ensure it loads correctly.
    • Troubleshoot if there are issues by checking logs or contacting support.
  10. Use for cPanel/WHM Access (Optional):

    • From version 11.60, SSL certificates can be used for logging into cPanel/WHM and webmail without additional setup.
