To install an SSL certificate on your server using cPanel, follow these organized steps:

  1. Log in to cPanel: Access your hosting account via cPanel.

  2. Navigate to SSL/TLS Settings:

    • Click on "Security" in the main menu and select "SSL/TLS: Install SSL Certificate."
  3. Prepare Necessary Files:

    • Ensure you have a private key (.key) and a certificate file (.crt). These are typically provided by your SSL provider or generated during purchase.
  4. Upload Files:

    • Click on the "Browse" button to upload your private key and certificate files.
    • Make sure they are in the correct format and without passwords.
  5. Handle Intermediate Certificates:

    • Check if your provider includes intermediate certificates. If so, upload them in the provided box labeled "Include Intermediate Certificates."
  6. Assign Certificate to Domain:

    • Use the dropdown menu to select the domain you wish to secure.
    • If your domain isn't listed, add it via cPanel's domain management section.
  7. Install the Certificate:

    • Click "Install Certificate" to initiate the process.
  8. Check for Private Key Autofill:

    • The system may autofill using the private key. If not found, manually enter it or generate a new one and reissue your SSL.
  9. Post-Installation Checks:

    • Test HTTPS access by visiting your site with https://.
    • Note that newer cPanel versions allow using these certificates for services like WHM, FTP, and webmail without additional setup.
