Overview
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing SSL certificates on your server using ISPConfig. The process involves generating a Certificate Signing Request (CSR), obtaining the certificate from a Certificate Authority (CA), and then activating it within ISPConfig.
Step 1: Generate a CSR Code
- Access ISPConfig: Log in to your ISPConfig control panel.
- Navigate to SSL Settings: Go to the SSL/TLS section under server settings.
- Create a New Certificate:
- Provide a name for the certificate.
- Choose the domain or hostname that will be secured by the SSL certificate.
- Select the bit length (2048 bits recommended for security).
- Generate CSR: Click "Generate" to create the CSR.
Step 2: Obtain Your SSL Certificate
- Download CSR: The CSR will be available in the SSL/TLS section after generation.
- Submit to CA: Upload the CSR to a trusted Certificate Authority like Let's Encrypt or a commercial provider.
- Receive Certificates: Once issued, download your certificate files (
.crt and .ca-bundle) from the CA.
Step 3: Activate SSL in ISPConfig
- Upload Certificates:
- Go to the SSL/TLS section again.
- Click "Add" to upload your
.crt and .ca-bundle files.
- Assign Domains: Associate the certificate with the appropriate domain(s) by selecting them from the dropdown list.
- Save Changes: Ensure all details are correct before saving.
Step 4: Verify SSL Installation
- Test HTTPS: Access your website using HTTPS to confirm the SSL is active.
- Check Logs: Review server logs for any errors related to SSL/TLS connections.
