To generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) in Vesta CP for obtaining an SSL certificate, follow these steps:

  1. Log into Vesta CP:

    • Navigate to your account's dashboard or domain management section.
  2. Locate the Domain Manager:

    • Find the specific domain for which you need to generate the CSR and select it.
  3. Access SSL/TLS Settings:

    • Click on the SSL/TLS tab associated with the domain.
    • Scroll down to the Certificate Signing Request (CSR) section.
  4. Generate the CSR:

    • Enter the necessary details:
      • Domain Name: The fully qualified domain name (FQDN).
      • Country Code: Select your country from the provided list.
      • State/Province: If applicable, enter the state or province.
      • City/Town: Provide the city or town.
      • Organization Name: Include the organization name (required for OV and EV certificates).
      • Common Name: Enter the domain name as it is registered.
    • Ensure all fields are filled accurately to avoid issues during certificate validation.
  5. Save the Private Key:

    • After generating the CSR, a private key will be downloaded or generated.
    • Save this private key securely on your server or computer. This key is crucial for installing the SSL certificate later.
  6. Submit the CSR:

    • Once the CSR is ready, submit it to your preferred Certificate Authority (CA) or upload it through their platform.
  7. Install the SSL Certificate:

    • After obtaining the certificate from the CA, download the certificate file.
    • Upload the certificate and the private key to Vesta CP to complete the installation.

Notes:

  • Ensure that all data in the CSR is accurate to prevent any validation errors.
  • The private key is not stored in Vesta CP by default, so it's essential to save it securely.
  • For Domain Validation (DV) certificates, you can use "NA" as the organization name if needed.
